The Stag Tree

Another portuguese series of paintings, This is an acrylic painting of an 300 year old carib tree painted on canvas which has the appearance of a deer. Carib grows a small seed used in making artificial chocolate for people who can't eat real chocolate. The berry or seed being of such uniform size and weigth was once used for weighing gold until other means were found. Thus the name for gold purity still bears the name of the carib by the name carot gold. The painting is a 20 x 16 inch set in a metal blue with white inside border frame of 24 x 20 inches.
